Build an outstanding Key Stage 3 Maths curriculum

The new national curriculum for Maths is the most radical curriculum review of the last 25 years for Maths teachers and subject leaders. This course considers how best to plan and deliver lessons which ensure pupils are ready for the future final-exam GCSE.

The course is highly practical and delegates will engage in activities that demonstrate teaching strategies that can secure good outcomes relating to the new programme of study.

Presenter profile

Dr Ray Huntley is a mathematics' graduate (Bachelor of Education); he holds a Diploma in Mathematical Education (Distinction); he spent 18 years working in Essex schools and has taught in Melbourne, Australia.

He developed wide experience of coordinating curriculum areas, and completed the National Professional Qualification for Headship. Ray was a primary school headteacher from January 2000 to August 2002, and is a trained Section 48 Inspector for RE and Worship. He works in Initial Teacher Education and has completed a Masters Degree in Education (with Distinction) and the Education Doctorate (EdD) in mathematics education.

He has also worked as a consultant for various CPD providers, leading teachers’ courses and school-based INSET in mathematics. Ray was recently awarded Chartered Mathematics Teacher status. Ray believes in an interactive approach to mathematics' teaching and delivers his training in the same manner through stimulating problem-solving activities.
