Shropshire Languages Conference

Come and join us for a selection of presentations, workshops and resources for secondary languages teachers.

With the emphasis on delegates receiving excellent professional development from leading language practitioners, this conference offers the opportunity to learn new classroom strategies, take part in practical sessions, benefit from the latest ideas and resources, be inspired and have fun!

Session 1 - Outstanding Languages Lessons - Elaine Taylor (9.50-11.50)

This workshop will help delegates to apply the Ofsted criteria for outstanding outcomes and provision and consider and share examples of excellent practice.

Delegates will explore strategies for engaging students, making effective use of the target language, challenging able linguists, developing cultural awareness and using authentic resources.

Session 2 - Assessment that has impact - Elaine Taylor (12.05-13.20)

This session will look at some of the issues surrounding assessment after levels. Participants will be encouraged to share what is happening in their own schools and we will support each other with ideas to overcome current difficulties. Examples of systems from a range of other schools will be presented for consideration.

Session 3 - Placing Differentiation at the centre of outstanding teaching - Philip Campagna (14.00-15.30)

This session will look at how teachers can develop their practice to place personalised learning at the centre of their teaching. Delegates will explore how to develop differentiated activities to meet the needs of all pupils in MFL lessons.
