GCSE and GCE Geography: Developing innovative and effective fieldwork

Join experienced David Holmes for a reflective experience designed to look at fieldwork methods and techniques relevant for GCSE and GCSE. This webinar will have an emphasis on the more technical aspects of fieldwork design as well as innovative qualitative and quantitative approaches.

In this webinar, suitable for all GCSE and GCE Awarding Bodies, David will:

  • Look at how to make both fieldwork design and methodology robust and reliable.
  • Show how to add variation and innovation to some familiar environments: coasts, rivers and urban environments.
  • Consider the practicalities of new technologies including drones, dedicated apps and online collection tools.
  • Reviewing options for more innovative qualitative approaches, including using social media as a research instrument as well as “street photography”.
  • Think about how students can be supported in the challenges of data analysis, interpreting conclusions and writing effective evaluations.
