Designing your Curriculum in Line with the 2025 Ofsted Framework

With the 2025 Ofsted Framework placing greater emphasis on curriculum quality, equity, and impact, this course supports senior and middle leaders to critically evaluate and refine their curriculum offer. The session moves beyond compliance, focusing on how curriculum design can drive meaningful learning and long-term outcomes for all learners.

Aims:

  • Understand the 2025 Ofsted inspection criteria and how they apply to curriculum design.
  • Articulate how your curriculum meets the needs of learners, including those with SEND and disadvantaged backgrounds.
  • Identify what evidence is meaningful for inspection and internal evaluation.
  • Ensure your curriculum is ambitious, inclusive, and sequenced for progression.
  • Strengthen your approach to monitoring implementation and evaluating impact.

  • Interpreting the National Curriculum through a local lens
  • Using data and community context to shape curriculum intent
  • Embedding school ethos and values into curriculum choices
  • Tools for curriculum self-evaluation and strategic planning
  • Designing for progression: knowledge, skills, and concepts
  • Ensuring curriculum accessibility and equity for all learners

Session 2 Inspection Readiness and Curriculum Impact

  • Understanding Ofsted’s 2025 expectations: curriculum quality, equity, and outcomes
  • Moving beyond “deep dives”: how inspectors now evaluate curriculum
  • Defining and evidencing curriculum impact (short- and long-term)
  • Monitoring teaching and learning through curriculum lenses
  • Using formative and summative data to inform curriculum decisions
  • Creating a culture of improvement and professional dialogue.

Marc Cooper has a background in educational leadership, school improvement, professional development and academic research. He has held senior positions in a number of educational institutions, ranging from schools, MATs and universities. Marc was the Research and Development Lead for the largest MAT in Cornwall (CELT) and currently works with the EEF & Research schools as a Regional Implementation lead. He is also an associate fellow at the International Centre for Education Enhancement, at the University of Bolton, leading and collaborating on their international Laboratory Schools programme.
